VENEERS

A beautiful smile can light up your entire facial appearance, helping you make great first impressions in both your personal life and professional career. If you tend to hide your teeth because you feel embarrassed by how they look, our team at Ching Dental Care offers a variety of solutions that can help. Many patients only need a simple cosmetic dental procedure to completely transform the look of their smile. With options like porcelain veneers, you can get the flawless smile you have always wanted.

WHAT ARE DENTAL VENEERS?

Dental veneers are composed of a thin shell that is placed over the front of the affected tooth to correct a variety of cosmetic concerns, such as chips, cracks, stains, or misshapen teeth. At Ching Dental Care, our team offers veneers made with a durable porcelain material to create an especially natural-looking outcome. The custom-made porcelain veneers are bonded to the front of the tooth surface, producing a stunning smile transformation.

WOULD YOU BENEFIT FROM VENEERS?

Porcelain veneers are a versatile treatment option that can be used to improve the aesthetics of your smile. Common issues that can be addressed by veneers include the following:

  • Chipped, cracked or otherwise damaged teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Crooked or misshapen teeth
  • Stained or discolored teeth
  • Eroded tooth enamel

HOW ARE PORCELAIN VENEERS PLACED?

Veneer placement is generally performed over the course of two office visits. During your first visit, Drs. Cynthia Chen or Chris Ching will prepare your teeth for veneer placement by gently your teeth. To ensure that your veneers look as natural as possible, the doctor will then make an impression of your mouth to create a model of your teeth. He or she will also take photos and digital X-rays of your mouth and use a color guide to match the shade of your natural teeth so that your veneers will look as natural as possible. After this is done, temporary veneers will be fabricated on your teeth until your permanent veneers are ready (usually after about three to four weeks).

On your second office visit, Drs. Cynthia Chen or Chris Ching will remove your temporary veneers and place your permanent veneers.  The doctor will ensure that they are to your liking and are perfect for your smile. Veneer placement involves little to no discomfort, and no recovery is needed afterwards. This allows you to leave our office ready to show off your new smile to the world!

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER GETTING PORCELAIN VENEERS?

Immediately after your veneers procedure, you can resume your normal activities without any downtime. When it comes to caring for your veneers, no additional maintenance is required. You should continue to practice good oral hygiene habits, including daily flossing and twice-daily brushing, as well as schedule routine dental exams and professional teeth cleanings.

HOW LONG WILL MY VENEERS LAST?

How long your veneers last, depends on how well you take care of them. With the proper care and attention, veneers can last anywhere from seven to fifteen years. Keep in mind, however, that veneers can chip or become loose and fall off. If this happens, they should be bonded back into place or replaced with new veneers. To help avoid excess wear and tear, you may want to avoid chewing on hard foods or objects, as well as using your teeth as tools to open packages. If you grind your teeth at night, you will most likely be recommended to wear a protective night guard when you sleep.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A DENTAL CROWN AND A DENTAL VENEER?

While the material is generally the same, dental crowns and veneers are used differently. Veneers are used for cosmetic purposes to cover up superficial imperfections, and crowns are used to restore teeth that are broken or badly damaged. Veneers are thin sheets or layers of porcelain that are bonded to the front surface of the teeth. Crowns are designed to recreate the entire, 360-degree exterior of the tooth.
